Catchup with Des and Sue — next Friday, 24 June

Join us for coffee and cake with Des and Sue, Friday 24 June, 9am, in the staffroom. All welcome. 

Come and catch up with Des and Sue in the staffroom at 9am Friday for our once-a-term morning tea.

Have a cuppa and some baking, and hear about some of the things happening around school. It's a great informal way to keep in touch, and meet some other parents!

Food and coffee at the Interschool Cross Country

We'll be at the Interschool Cross Country on Tuesday (21June), selling sausages, water, juicies and Whittaker's chocolate.

We've also arranged for Coffee+ to be there, to keep the parents well caffeinated! They'll be donating 10% of all their sales to the Kapanui School PFA. You can check them out on their website or Facebook.

It was great to see new faces at our meeting on Friday. Minutes are up on the PFA blog, kapanuifundraising.blogspot.co.nz/
Remember that any parents and friends of the school are welcome to come to PFA meetings. Dates for our next meetings are Friday 1 July, and Friday 5 August, both 2pm in the staffroom.

Interschool Cross Country sausage sizzle
On 21 June the PFA is running a sausage sizzle at the Interschool Cross Country. This will be a big
fundraiser for us, and we welcome many more hands to help. Please email Kirsty on richgreen@clear.net.nz if you can help for an hour or so.

Minutes from PFA meeting 10 June 2016




Minutes of Meeting
Parents & Friends Association


Meeting Held Friday 10th June 2016, 2.00pm
 @ Kapanui School Staffroom


Present:   Kirsty, Lisanne, Sarah, Janet, Emma, Eli
Apologies:  Motu, Kate

Cross country
A huge thank you to all those that helped out.  We made a profit of $850.

Interschool cross country

We will be doing a sausage sizzle, Whitakers chocolate, juicies and water. A Roster has been sent out for helpers.  Kirsty will contact Emma at the coffee cart to see if she is available with a percentage coming to us.
Kirsty and Lisanne to organize and set up.
We will set up straight after drop off.  First lot of sausages need to be ready by 11.30am.
Kirsty will order 900 sausages as there is approx 100 in the freezer.  Kirsty to make a flyer and get to John Brunton to send to all the outside schools to let them know we will be there.

School lunches:
Kirsty will approach Jeanine and see if there is a possibility of something hot like a pie as a treat.  Also to have available (gluten free) next to the menu items that are applicable.  There are quite a lot of vegetarian options on the menu.

Kapa Haka:
Suzanne Lemon has asked for new uniforms.  She is wanting 30 @approx $35 each.  I suggested she write a letter and I will get it to the Baptist Church as it will need to be on a letterhead. Sarah to follow up with Suzanne.

“Get your Groove on” major fundraiser 12th August
Sarah is doing a fab job behind the scene at starting to organize this.  A letter will go home in the newsletter over the next few weeks asking if families have contacts with certain suppliers we need to make this event possible.  Keeping our costs down will help with profit on the night.

 Tickets and posters are nearly ready to print.  We are able to do this at the school to help with costs.

Looking for a contact that prints the community billboards on the coast for larger advertising.

Janet to ask Warren if he would be happy to be on the door to check ID and tickets.

Janet to ask Warren about Chiller, glasses from a contact he may have.

Kirsty has applied to pak n save for $250 to go towards nibbles.
Kirsty has applied to Café Lafferee for sponsor free coffee
Kirsty will contact Kapiti Water to ask if they can supply a water filter on the night.
Kirsty to look into Waikanae Community board grant to cover

Hall hire $64.50
Liquor Licence $270
Amourguard to collect money ??
Dancers $400 plus GST

Janet will also look at other funding options to help with costs plus the glasses, chiller etc.

Meeting closed 3pm.

The PFA meeting for June is this Friday, 10 June, 2pm, in the staffroom. All parents and friends welcome.

SAVE THE DATE! Friday 12 August – "Get Your Groove On!" at the Waikanae Memorial Hall. An evening out for parents/neighbours/friends – start organising your friends and babysitters now! (18+, ID may be required). Get practicing your dance moves! 

School lunches are going well, one comment was that it was "Yummy, I had a cheese scone and lemon muffin, going to try the rice salad next week." Remember to get your orders in by 9am on the day you want lunch delivered.
