PFA Update
The PFA's blog is being updated
regularly, and there's a number of new posts on it – check it out at kapanuifundraising.blogspot.co.nz/, or using the link on the front
page of the school website.
The PFA recently helped to send some
of our senior pupils to the Young Leaders Seminar in Porirua, and also helped
buy new netball uniforms.
See the school website under Newsletters for the full newsletter.

Recent projects update
The PFA has recently supported our Kapanui students attending the Young Leaders' Seminar in Porirua, by paying for their travel to this event.
New netball uniforms were also desperately needed, and these are being purchased out of PFA-raised funds.
We still need more helpers for the sausage sizzle at the Cross Country! Sign up for a particular time on the sheet held at the school office.
Thanks!

Christmas at Kapanui
In 2016 Christmas at Kapanui will be on Friday 25 November, 4.30–7.30pm. The PFA is starting planning now for this event – please get in touch with us if you'd like to help!
What is Christmas at Kapanui?
Christmas at Kapanui is our school gala/fair, and is a major fundraiser for the school. It's held every two years, on a Friday evening in late November/early December. The PFA organises and advertises Christmas at Kapanui, and coordinates the stalls.
The fair is a way for children to fundraise for their camp fees for the following year, and the PFA to fundraise for other projects. During the year children submit their idea for a stall to the PFA, who will ensure that we don't have too much overlap. Other stalls are run by parents on the PFA, to fundraise for other school projects – we always need ideas for these stalls, and more helpers to bring it all together.

Christmas at Kapanui is a real school community
event, with performances by the choir, kapa haka groups, bands, and many
others, as well as stalls, rides, food. It is held in the school grounds, to
allow us both good- and bad-weather options.

Fundraising for school camp
Camp is
held every two years. For years 7–8 this is a week-long trip to Curious Cove
(in the Marlborough Sounds), and for years 5–6, El Rancho. Camp is held in
February/March, when the weather is most stable, so fundraising begins the year
before, when those who will be going to camp are in years 4–7.
This year (2016)
is a fundraising year, and children will be off to camp in early 2017.
The PFA
does everything we can to support our families with children going to camp, and
it becomes one of our main fundraising focusses in the year before (we still
fund-raise for other projects, as well). For those children who aren't going to
camp this time, it's a great opportunity for them to see how our community
works together to support one another, and for them to help out their whanau
buddies. In a few years' time they will be going, and others will be helping to
support them, so they learn about paying it forward.
Do let us know if you can join the PFA to help
out with fundraising – many hands make light work.
