We've decided to move our online communications to Facebook — it seems so many people are already on there, and it's easier for many parents to have our notices pop up in their feed. We'll leave this blog up for a bit for reference purposes, but will likely close it down in a few months.
So come over and Like us, Kapanui Parents and Friends Association on Facebook! (https://www.facebook.com/kapanuipfa/)

Minutes from PFA meeting 1 July 2016
Minutes
of Meeting
Parents
& Friends Association
Meeting
Held Friday 1st July 2016 , 2.00pm
@ Kapanui School Staffroom
Present: Kirsty, Lisanne, Sarah, , Eli, Motu, Kate
Apologies: Janet, Emma
Interschool cross country/ regional cross country
Unfortunately this wasn’t has
big of an event that originally thought.
However we still sold around 450 sausages. Left over stock will be used for regional
cross country 5th July with the hope it will balance out and we will
make some good profit. A roster has been
sent out for helpers on the 5th.
We made $50 from the coffee
cart. It was great to make that contact
and we will use them again for events.
School lunches:
Kirsty to follow this up
again.
Kirsty will approach Jeanine
and see if there is a possibility of something hot like a pie as a treat. Also to have available (gluten free) next to
the menu items that are applicable. There are quite a lot of vegetarian
options on the menu.
Kapa Haka:
Sarah has passed the
information onto Suzanne re the letter to the Baptist church. Uniforms will be needed in November, if
funding isn’t successful we will make sure they uniforms for November.
“Get your
Groove on” major fundraiser 12th August
“Get your Groove on” major fundraiser 12th
August
Sarah is doing a fab job
behind the scene at starting to organize this.
A letter will go home in the newsletter over the next few weeks asking
if families have contacts with certain suppliers we need to make this event
possible. Keeping our costs down will
help with profit on the night. Sarah has had this in the newsletter with a disappointing 0 response
from parents.
Tickets and posters are nearly ready to
print. We are able to do this at the
school to help with costs. Tickets
are printed and are at the office.
Looking for a contact that
prints the community billboards on the coast for larger advertising. Sarah still working on this.
Kirsty to give her paul brittain morby contact. paul@koast.co.nz
Janet to ask Warren if he
would be happy to be on the door to check ID and tickets. Done and has 3 others to help
Janet to ask Warren about
Chiller, glasses from a contact he may have.
Kirsty has applied to pak n
save for $250 to go towards nibbles. Will chase up as haven’t heard back
Kirsty has applied to Café
Lafferee for sponsor free coffee. Yes has been accepted
Kirsty will contact Kapiti
Water to ask if they can supply a water filter on the night. Have been to see them, waiting for a reply, looks like we can get 1-2
dispensers for the night.
Kirsty to look into Waikanae
Community board grant to cover
Hall hire $64.50
Liquor Licence $270
Amourguard to collect money
??
Dancers $400 plus GST
I have applied for $800, This will be looked at in the August funding round. Sounding promising, not sure how much though
Janet will also look at other
funding options to help with costs plus the glasses, chiller etc.
Kirsty to hand out flyers
around local shops to put in staffroom’s windows etc
Kirsty to see if the gym club
will let us you sound system, we could give them a donation.
Kirsty to get flyers to hand
out at netball next Saturady.
Kirsty to call Jeanine and
make meeting over holiday’s re food. To
connect with Sarah.
New world are happy to do
sale and return on alcohol. Kirsyt to
follow up.
Eli to contact someone about
courtesy cars to get people home safely for a gold coin donation.
Eli to also see if she can
get speakers.
Sarah to contact Mia from
Hells Pizza for supper
Talks of a photo booth, will
re look closer to the time.
Kate to talk to Jac Wagstaff
re sponsorship and if she has any contacts for glasses, chiller etc.
Sarah also to send out an
update on where we are at in case I’ve missed something.
Big thing is for everyone to
promote, promote, posters up everywhere.
Facebook
Kate has expressed that most
hits come from facebook. She asked if we
could have a FB page. She has spoken to
Des and he would be happier if we use the school FB page and she and Sarah were
administrators. We feel this would be
the best solution so there aren’t as many contact points for parents as it
becomes confusing.
Meeting closed 3pm
Next meeting 5th
August 2pm in the staffroom.
